MCQUEEN MASKS “SAVAGE BEAUTY” V & A LONDON
As a follow up to the record-breaking residency at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2011, Alexander McQueen's "Savage Beauty" opened at London's Victoria and Albert Museum in March 2015. The much anticipated exhibit is the first and largest retrospective of McQueen's work in Europe.
Frequent collaborator and friend Guido Palau served as head treatment and mask designer for the exhibition. Geoffrey Mac had the honor to work with NY designer and artist Desi Santiago along with Palau on the production of several styles of masks for the exhibit. Geoffrey Mac's production included multiples of a latex base with a resin casted horn - as featured in VOGUE UK (see photos below.) Other styles Mac produced included a triple spiked latex "clown", butterfly sugar skull, metal shavings cropped afro, and a red crystal bleeding slash design.
